Massage Therapy!
At Moved by Music, we have spent nearly two decades providing music therapy to children and adults on the SLS, CES, CHRP, and CwCHN waivers. We are thrilled to be expanding our practice to include in-home massage therapy — bringing the same warmth, dedication, and person-centered care that defines everything we do to a whole new service.

Who We Serve
Benefits of Massage Therapy
What a Typical In-Home Session Looks Like
Massage therapy is the systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body — including techniques such as gliding, percussion, compression, vibration, and gentle stretching — for the purpose of bringing about beneficial physiological, mechanical, and psychological changes. In plain terms, it is therapeutic touch that helps the body feel better, move better, and function better.
Moved by Music will provide in-home massage therapy for children and adults on the CES and SLS waivers, as well as private pay clients. Our therapists are experienced in working with individuals with disabilities, neurodivergent diagnoses, and medically complex needs — including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, Rett syndrome, Angelman syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries, among others.
Every session looks a little different — because every client is different. Here is what you can generally expect:
Building Rapport
Rapport comes first, always. Our therapist will take time to introduce themselves, get to know the client, and establish trust before any touch begins. The therapist will always ask the client's permission before starting and will work with the client and family to establish comfortable boundaries of touch that feel right for that individual. In some cases, we may ask the client to have a favorite blanket, stuffed animal, or comfort item nearby — whatever helps them feel safe and at ease.
Setting
The therapist comes to you. Sessions take place in the client's home, in whatever position and setting is most comfortable for them. For many of our clients, that means receiving massage while seated comfortably on a couch, in their wheelchair, or in a favorite chair — wherever they feel most relaxed and at ease. We meet each client exactly where they are, and we never ask a client to accommodate our equipment. The session adapts to the person, not the other way around.
Attire
Clients do not disrobe. We ask that clients wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing — soft shorts or pants and a t-shirt work great. Parents and caregivers are always welcome and encouraged to remain in the room.
Oils and Lotions
We do not use creams, lotions, or oils by default, out of an abundance of caution for skin sensitivities and medication interactions. If you would like the therapist to use a lotion, simply provide your preferred product and we are happy to incorporate it.
Music
At Moved by Music, we believe in the power of combining music and massage to maximize the benefits of both. Your therapist will play music during the session — and clients and families are always welcome to make requests. It is, after all, what we do.
